Microsoft.NET error when starting game after configuring split play.

I started .exe, selected borderlands 1 as my game. I hooked up my 360 controller and selected 2 players. First player top horizontal and second player bottom horizontal. Next screen i selected that player will be using keyboard. I clicked play. The game started up but soon after I got a Microsoft.net error containing the following message.
